What Sets Livewell Apart in the Veterinary Industry

Dr. Kramer Gopffarth, Livewell Animal Hospital of RiNO

As veterinarians, we enter this field driven by medicine, compassion, and a deep desire to make a difference. Along the way, many of us discover a second calling — the drive to shape a practice, lead a team, and build something that reflects our own vision of excellent veterinary care.

That’s exactly what Livewell has given me.

Coming from a legacy SVP hospital, I knew I wanted to grow beyond clinical medicine. I wanted true leadership — not just managing cases, but cultivating a culture, mentoring young doctors, and having a voice in the kind of medicine we practice every day. Livewell provided the platform to do that and more.

From Founder’s Day in Birmingham to the launch of our hospital in RiNo, Denver, I’ve seen firsthand how Livewell empowers its medical leaders to drive the direction of their practices. I’ve been able to recruit and mentor an incredible team, develop hospital protocols tailored to our clientele, and build a work environment grounded in compassion, excellence, teamwork, respect, innovation, and accountability.

What makes Livewell different is the rare balance of support and autonomy. Mission Pet Health and Livewell leadership provide the operational foundation — from financial and HR expertise to marketing, compliance, and growth strategy — while giving DVM leaders the freedom to shape their hospitals from the inside out.

Even the hospital build-outs reflect that attention to individuality. Each Livewell hospital follows a thoughtful design that ensures efficiency and flow, yet every location retains its own personality. Every finish detail, floorplan decision, equipment choice, and inventory standard is approached with purpose — nothing is compromised. This consistency in quality, paired with the flexibility to adapt to local needs, creates hospitals that are both beautiful and highly functional for medicine.

The result is a structure that allows veterinarians to lead with confidence. You make decisions about medical standards, team dynamics, and community engagement, all while having a strong network to lean on when challenges arise. That combination of structure and freedom is exceptionally rare in veterinary medicine today.

Livewell’s model is built for veterinarians who see ownership not as a far-off goal, but as the natural next step in their professional evolution. You’re encouraged to think like an owner, lead like an entrepreneur, and continue practicing medicine the way you were trained — evidence-based, ethical, and compassionate.

The Livewell network is collaborative, not competitive. Our community of veterinarians shares ideas, medical insights, and leadership strategies that elevate us all. It’s a culture of growth where success is measured not only in revenue, but in mentorship, innovation, and the health of our teams.

Just as importantly, Livewell recognizes that great medicine depends on sustainable leadership. Long-term success is built on doctor and staff well-being, not burnout. Work-life balance, mental health resources, and flexible scheduling are built into the Livewell philosophy. The goal isn’t just to build profitable hospitals — it’s to create meaningful, enduring veterinary careers.

For me, that’s been the difference. I’ve found a place where my medical standards are upheld, my leadership skills are challenged, and my voice truly matters. I get to build something meaningful — with the security and collaboration of a network that believes in me.

If you’re a veterinarian ready to take that next step — to lead, to own, and to grow — Livewell isn’t just another opportunity. It’s a platform built for your vision, your leadership, and your legacy.
