Why would I want to be a FLDVM?
Why would I want to be a FLDVM?
Dr. Bret Grover, Livewell Animal Hospital of Herriman
I have always wanted to have more control of the business side of things. I believe that veterinary medicine is not a one size fits most type of thing. You can have ideas that will work well for how you function as a veterinarian and still be profitable, potentially even more profitable without the constraints of feeling like a cog in the machine.
I have been surprised several times by how much control I am able to have. When I was setting up pricing I was given numbers of what pricing averages are in my area but I was able to either increase or decrease according to what I felt fit to be most important to me. When discussing what CE I should look into it didn’t matter that it was a little outside of the norm and a little more soft skills focused, I was told to go for it. I of course want to be successful and profitable and so I am working towards making that happen, and that is the same goals of Livewell.
I have felt they have tried to stay out of my way but be there for me at the same time. I feel like I am able to create the culture in my team as I see fit, and I don’t have as many hoops to jump through to enact change. Be good, do good, and the staff will do the same which will keep clients coming back, as of now I have felt Livewell has given me the ways to do that.
